Würth Logistics - Goods Control

Classification of goods for export - dual use products on the fokus

Goods control focus on your products. The foreign trade specialists at Würth Logistics are familiar with the various lists of goods and find the right class for your products. When official requirements must be met in order to export your goods, they secure the necessary approvals from the authorities and design your processes in a way that allows them to pass all inspections. You then comply with all regulations related to trading listed goods.

Have you ever considered what other applications your products could be used for? If civilian products can also be used for military purposes, they may then come under the “dual-use” category and therefore be listed in the EC Regulation on dual-use items. Exporting dual-use goods requires special approval in certain countriesor even banned altogether.

These products are not always easy to recognize. They could, for example, include a small toggle switch that can potentially also be installed in a tank, insulation material for car engines that can also be used for constructing rockets, or lipstick cases that can be misused for firearm shells. Technologies, software, or technical drawings can also come under the “dual-use” category.

The lists of goods – both national and international – are also changing continuously. Yet despite this, all companies must make sure that all of their products destined for export have corresponding permits in place. An authorization requirement can also result from the intended end use.
